I've been making this blue cheese dressing for over 40 years, since I was a child helping my mom make it on special occasions. Now I won't eat a salad without it; I just love it!

I'm the only one in my family who still makes it and it's their number one request for me to bring to potlucks because it's also perfect when to as use as a dip for vegetables, chips, fondue, chicken wings, even steak and of course salads!

Cook Time

Prep time:
Ready in:
Yields: 3 cups of dressing

Ingredients

  • 1 cup mayonaise
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 to 2 cup blue chesse
  • 4 dashes Worchestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1/2 oz cognac or brandy, optional

    Instructions

    1. Mix well and put into a container. It is a thicker dressing, if you want to thin it out add more mayo and sour cream a little at a time.
    2. Keep covered in the fridge for one to two weeks; it starts getting liquidy when it's time to finish it up.

This dressing is outstanding on salads and much tastier and healthier than any you'll find in stores...

Ketchup you say? I'd never thought about any tomato being present in bleu cheese dressing, but I'm going to give it a try.

    Voted up and SHARED.

@ LL; it just gives it that extra little bit of sweetness that takes a little bit of the bite out of the blue cheese; hope you enjoy!
